Brotherhood Spotlight: Our Community Service Chair, Sam McIntyre

I wasn't sure I wanted to join Greek Life when I came to William & Mary last fall, but I was drawn to the diverse personalities and interests of the brothers of Delta Chi. Our brotherhood is truly one of a kind, and I'm constantly impressed by the dedication, generosity, and community fostered within our organization. Joining Delta Chi has introduced me to some of my best friends on campus and empowered me to grow both as member of the fraternity and of the William & Mary community.

As our chapter's Community Service Chair, it's my responsibility to encourage community engagement by promoting and co-sponsoring service projects in the Williamsburg community. Service has always been a priority for me, and I volunteer on campus as a tutor/mentor with Lafayette Kids, so this position felt like a natural way for me to become a more involved leader in the fraternity. In addition to our hugely successful philanthropy, Hot & Bothered, the brothers of Delta Chi engage in the Williamsburg community through a variety of organizations, including Someone You Know, TribeTHON, CPK, and others. In March, we had the honor of co-sponsoring Fear 2 Freedom with Kappa Kappa Gamma, an event which brought vital education about supporting survivors of sexual assault and abuse to our community, as well as the assembly of countless after-care kits for survivors. I am immensely proud of our accomplishments this semester, and I look forward to remaining active in Delta Chi and the local community over the next three years.
